Worm Composting Ireland, or wormslovewaste.com was set up by an enthusiastic vermicomposter in Ireland to promote the use of worm composting and to provide advice specific to the Irish climate and situation, so as to divert waste from landfill and save people money on their bin charges. I have been composting with worms since the late 90's, and about a year ago I stepped everything up a gear, determined to recycle as much of my organic waste as possible at home. Now, a year later, as a family of four, (who cook most of our meals from scratch so we have plenty of peelings etc) we are only left with one small bag a week (20 litres or so) of unrecyclable waste. Last year (2009) we only out put our black bin 10 times for collection, at a total cost of €80 (South Dublin co.co.)
A saving of up to €440 if we had put out one bin a week.
